Companies continue expansion of RosettaNet activities through electronics supply chain

Melville, NY — July 6, 2004 — Arrow Electronics Inc. and Three-Five Systems Inc. (TFS), a global provider of electronics manufacturing services and display solutions, announced that the companies are now conducting purchase order transactions using a RosettaNet standard Partner Interface Process (PIP), a specialized system-to-system extensible markup language (XML)-based dialogue that defines a particular business process between trading partners.

Arrow is a founding member of RosettaNet, a non-profit consortium of more than 500 organizations working to create, implement and promote open e-business standards and services.

The automated process, which Arrow implemented with Three-Five Systems in early June, further enables Arrow's ability to support TFS' purchasing needs in a real-time environment. For TFS this replaces the transmission of orders to Arrow via files sent over the Internet. It also delivers automation to the overall order management process for both companies. By joining a growing set of RosettaNet implementations with Arrow customers, TFS links with the network of RosettaNet implementations that Arrow has with suppliers.

"Arrow is excited about the opportunities that this RosettaNet engagement has provided to both companies in regards to automating the purchasing and order entry process," said Paul Katz, vice president of Digital Supply Chain Solutions, Arrow Electronics. "We look forward to expanding this program into other supply chain processes that are so critical to the relationship between Arrow and TFS."

"Today's global market conditions demand real-time information flow," said Jeff Perry, chief information officer, TFS. "This new method of electronic communication will strengthen our supply chain management capabilities. Our partnership with Arrow Electronics has been instrumental in the development, testing and implementation of this new system."
