Mississauga, Ontario ̵ July 7, 2004 ̵ Psion Teklogix, a provider of solutions for mobile computing and wireless data collection, including radio frequency identification (RFID) technology, and Shipcom Wireless Inc., today announced that Shipcom Wireless will resell Psion Teklogix' line of rugged mobile computing devices with its CATAMARAN and CATAMARAN RFID software.

Shipcom Wireless is a global provider of enterprise mobility, RFID, supply chain automation and business process modeling solutions.

The integration of Shipcom Wireless software with Psion Teklogix mobile computing devices provides customers with a range of additional data collection options for all types of environments, according to the companies. Currently, Psion Teklogix offers integrated RFID capabilities in its 7535 and netpad hand-held devices, as well as a tethered RFID reader that can be utilized with a variety of Psion Teklogix vehicle-mount or hand-held devices.

Shipcom said its CATAMARAN software supports most wireless devices, including iPAQ's, barcode scanners, industrial hand-held terminals, WAP phones, RFID Tags, Pocket PC and Palm devices, Tablet PCs, touch-memory and pen-based computers. It also works over a variety of Radio Frequency (RF), WLAN and commercial mobile networks.

In addition, Shipcom's CATAMARAN software includes a toolkit that integrates RFID reader set-up, coordination and RFID data aggregation, smoothing, forwarding, storage and monitoring. The software can also notify users via configurable alerts and trigger transactions to enterprise applications.
