Aircraft manufacturer could become forwarder's largest domestic account
Redwood City, CA — July 19, 2004 — The Boeing Company has selected Menlo Worldwide Forwarding to be its primary domestic air freight provider for all shipments 21 pounds and above for next day and deferred air freight services. The value of the contract was not disclosed.
Menlo, which previously had secondary provider status with Boeing, has already begun providing domestic air freight services under the new contract. Menlo will provide domestic air freight services to Boeing, as well as Boeing's suppliers and vendors.
All of Menlo Worldwide Forwarding's U.S.-based service centers are expected to play a role in servicing Boeing, including its heavy freight and small package sortation center and hub in Dayton, Ohio. Menlo's service centers in Seattle, Los Angeles and St. Louis will be the most active in servicing the account.
"Menlo Worldwide Forwarding provided the best combination of reduced total air freight rates, information technology capabilities and schedule performance to meet the demanding requirements of the Boeing production environment," said Joyce Williamson-Curley, manager of enterprise traffic management in Boeing Shared Services Group.
