San Rafael, CA — July 27, 2004 — Autodesk Inc., a design software and digital content company, said that due to continuing application development initiatives to transition manufacturers from 2D to 3D design, partner momentum has been increasing for the Autodesk Inventor Series design solutions.

In conjunction with the growing demand for the software series, the Autodesk Inventor Certified Application Program has also reached a milestone, delivering more than 76 certified software applications for the manufacturing sector, according to the provider.

Autodesk said its Inventor Certified Application program delivers tailored solutions to manufacturers in industries from consumer goods to industrial equipment. Since the program's inception two years ago, the company said participation has expanded tenfold since there are many Inventor-complementary applications available to mid-sized manufacturers.

Robert Kross, vice president of Autodesk's Manufacturing Solutions Division, said his company is committed to providing comprehensive design solutions and working with development partners to help manufacturers realize the potential of 3D design.

"Our partners are developing customized applications to meet specific manufacturing needs," Kross explained. "They are making design innovation possible in vertical sectors of manufacturing, and helping Autodesk users gain even greater value from their technology investment."

Pathtrace Systems Inc., with more than 20 years of manufacturing experience, is one of Autodesk's developers and was recently named an Autodesk Global Preferred Computer-aided Manufacturing (CAM) Partner. Pathtrace offers EdgeCAM, which is a standard in solids-based machining.

"By integrating EdgeCAM with Autodesk Inventor Series, customers have the tools to tackle the most complicated engineering problems by automatically updating their designs, ensuring data accuracy and consistency and thus speeding a product's time to market," said Steve Sivitter, CEO, Pathtrace Systems Inc. "The Autodesk Inventor Certified Application Program is beneficial because it provides partners with an open API and access to code early in the development process to ensure partner products are fully integrated into the Autodesk solution."
