Apparel manufacturer aims to improve trading partner communication, data synchronization with QRS solutions

Richmond, CA — July 29, 2004 — Apparel company Coed Sportswear has renewed its contract to use a solution from provider QRS to drive global brand execution by facilitating communications with its substantial trading partner community.

With its commitment to "no minimum" orders and 24-hour shipping, Coed has established itself as a customer-focused supplier in the industry. To maintain its high customer service levels, Coed relies on systems and processes that ensure the accurate flow of information across the supply chain, and the company uses QRS solutions for electronic communications among its 8,000-member trading partner community.

QRS said its Managed EC solution enables suppliers to outsource their electronic date interchange (EDI) communications and transact electronically regardless of their technology infrastructure, making possible "any-to-any" transactions and communications.

Managed EC is a retail service bureau that provides electronic communication and business document exchange solutions through an EDI-to-fax/e-mail translation service that eliminates the need for hardware, software or additional staff. Managed EC can also generate UCC128 shipping labels and GTIN and non-GTIN bar-coded price tickets.

"QRS Managed EC levels the technical playing field for trading partners, allowing any size supplier to transact with any size retailer," the solution provider said.

"Coed prides itself on being the most desirable company to do business with in the imprinted apparel industry," said Mark Lane, president and owner of Coed Sportswear. "Partnering with QRS enables us to work with our national department store and sports retailer partners efficiently and cost-effectively."

In addition to Managed EC, Coed, a longtime QRS customer, also uses the provider's Catalogue solution to meet its data synchronization needs. Catalogue, with over 100 million unique items, enables marketers, manufacturers, suppliers and retailers to share product information with 550 total product attributes, including price, style, color and size, according to QRS.

"QRS solutions enable companies like Coed to work with trading partners of all sizes, while simultaneously increasing the accuracy of product information," said Ray Rike, QRS' senior vice president for worldwide sales and field operations. "We value our relationship with longtime customers such as Coed Sportswear, who are using QRS solutions to achieve data synchronization to drive global brand execution."
