Franklin, KY, and Markham, Ontario — August 19, 2004 — Franklin Express Inc., a regional motor transportation and dry storage warehouse services provider, said it has gone live with an application service provider (ASP) version of Delfour Corp.'s SmartEnterprise 2 third-party logistics (3PL) management software system.

According to Franklin Express, SmartEnterprise 2 replaced a custom-coded system that had long been in use at the company.

"We had many years of service from the previous system, but with the growth and increasing complexity of our operations we required a software platform with a more comprehensive range of features, as well as higher performance and greater flexibility," said Reasonover. "The Delfour solution fulfills our current needs and will accommodate our future growth very well, since the company maintains an active development program to keep their solutions at the leading edge of logistics software."

Franklin Express' logistics software platform is hosted at Delfour's Data Center, rather than installed at the company's headquarters. Franklin said this enables the company to employ a state-of-the art logistics system without the need to staff an information technology department.

The solution is comprised of the Enterprise Foundation integration platform, the WarehouseLogic automated warehouse management platform, the e-Vista Web-enabled supply chain visibility tool, the Active Desktop graphical user interface and single-screen control center, Supply Chain Event Manager, and Delfour's proprietary data mining and alert activation tool called d'Amigo,.

According to Ron Mantlo, a partner in the company, Franklin Express selected Delfour's SmartEnterprise 2 for its excellence as an integrated GUI-driven software platform and for the availability of a hosted ASP solution.

Franklin Express occupies more than 336,000 square feet of owned warehouse space in Franklin, Ky. Its clientele includes such firms as Perfetti Van Melle, manufacturer of Mentos and other candy products, Tyco Adhesives, InnoPak Corp. and Weyerhaeuser.

Besides receiving, warehousing and shipping inventory, the company provides a range of fulfillment services, among them kitting, unpacking and repacking. It began operations in 1961 as a motor carrier and it launched warehouse operations in 1988.
