Global business technology firm uses PLM environment for market design requirements, product collaboration

Westford, MA — September 7, 2004 — Technology solution provider NCR Corp. said it is standardizing on MatrixOne's product lifecycle management (PLM) solutions.

NCR will use MatrixOne's PLM environment to support its product management, global design and manufacturing partnerships. The company's worldwide value chain is composed of more than 2,000 internal and external users responsible for designing and manufacturing NCR's technology solutions, such as automated teller machines, point-of-sale systems and self-service kiosks.

NCR has a 120-year history of manufacturing technologies that allow companies to better serve and retain their customers. To keep pace within its worldwide markets, NCR said it has turned to a global product development system that uses talent and relies on collaboration with manufacturing partners in several markets.

According to NCR, MatrixOne's PLM environment will provide a secure and collaborative product development environment across the manufacturer's global operations, as well as be the backbone for the global enterprise business process. Its single repository will enable NCR to compress the time required throughout the continuum between customer needs, product requirements, product architecture and solution creation, the company said.

"NCR's product development and engineering strategies revolve around an ability to capture synergies across all of our business units, so we can share common parts, platforms and software components among our families of products, while utilizing globally dispersed development and manufacturing teams," said Bob Tramontano, vice president of NCR's Financial Solutions Division. "MatrixOne allows us to leverage existing efficiencies and discover new ones wherever possible by creating a single, unified repository for worldwide product lifecycle management."
