Turns to GlobeRanger, ESYNC for radio frequency identification solution

Richardson, TX — September 9, 2004 — International Paper has turned to radio frequency identification (RFID) specialist GlobeRanger and supply chain consulting firm ESYNC to deploy GlobeRanger's iMotion Edgeware platform at its Customer Solutions Center.

ESYNC developed multiple edge workflows representative of typical supply chain processes including RFID receiving, picking with an intelligent forklift, picking to a high-speed conveyor belt and shipping. The edge applications enable users to interact with RFID systems through graphical interfaces. ESYNC will demonstrate its capabilities at the upcoming open house for International Paper's Customer Solutions Center.

GlobeRanger's iMotion platform is designed to let its partners accelerate RFID development. The platform is packaged with a software development kit (SDK), pre-built reader adapters and application components for data and process management. GlobeRanger said its visual workflow editor allows developers to create edge applications in a visual, drag-and-drop environment. The platform also provides emulation capabilities for ease of testing and data integration.

"ESYNC is committed to maximizing the value our customers derive from investments in supply chain technology and systems," said John Sidell, an ESYNC co-founder and principal. "With RFID now one of the key technologies driving supply chain value, the partnership with GlobeRanger extends our ability to support integration of the best solutions for clients implementing RFID."

"ESYNC has deployed some of the most sophisticated edge workflows to date," said John Koenigs, president and CEO of GlobeRanger. "We're excited about the innovative work they are doing for International Paper and look forward to future collaborations."
