Software company taps Selectica to improve opportunity-to-order process

San Jose, CA September 22, 2004 Solution provider Epicor Software Corporation has tapped an application from Selectica in a bid to improve its opportunity-to-order process and help manage the company's growing business.

Two decades old, Epicor offers enterprise resource planning (ERP), customer relationship management (CRM) and supply chain management (SCM) software solutions to mid-market companies, serving more than 20,000 customers in over 140 countries.

As Epicor has acquired new customers, businesses and products, it increasingly needed a more effective sales ordering solution that would further automate processes and simultaneously handle the company's increasing order volumes and diversity of business. To address these challenges, the company has chosen to implement Selectica's Enterprise Productivity Suite.

Selectica said its Enterprise Productivity Suite (EPS) offers configuration, pricing and quoting solutions for streamlining the opportunity-to-order process for manufacturers, telecommunication service providers and financial institutions. This functionality is provided through four distinct offerings: Configuration, Deal Optimization and Pricing, Sales and Solution Advisor.

These solutions are intended to help unify customers' business processes to correctly configure, price and quote offerings across multiple distribution channels. As a result, Selectica helps improve profitability by reducing process costs, optimizing pricing, eliminating rework and concessions, and avoiding high-risk business, according to the solution provider.

"With Selectica, we will have an easier-to-use and more effective solution to reduce the time it takes to create new proposals, submit orders and modify existing contracts," said Jon Taylor, director of sales operations at Epicor. "We chose Selectica because it offered a solid solution for further automating our opportunity-to-order process."

"As companies begin to grow and think beyond cost cutting and towards growing top-line revenue, Selectica picks up where CRM and ERP applications leave off by improving its customers' ability to accurately and efficiently price and sell complex products and services," said Stephen Bennion, executive vice president and interim CEO at Selectica.

Other Selectica customers include such manufacturing and service companies as ABB, Bell Canada, Hitachi, Juniper Networks, Rockwell Automation and Tellabs. Selectica is headquartered in San Jose, Calif.
