Goes with business service management solution that has updated application performance management capabilities

Marlboro, MA — October 5, 2004 — Concord Communications, a provider of business service management (BSM) software solutions, today announced a new version of its eHealth Suite, which includes extended application performance management (APM) capabilities to enable end-to-end business service management for customers, including networks, systems and applications.

Putting Concord's BSM solution into practice is Sierra Health Services, a diversified healthcare company headquartered in Las Vegas, Nev. Recognized for its quality patient care, Sierra Health said it plans to use its information technology (IT) infrastructure to deliver better customer service.

With more than a dozen clinics within the Las Vegas valley, Sierra Health serves more than 1.2 million patients with a full range of health care services. To increase the efficiency of service delivery and heighten customer satisfaction, Sierra deployed an electronic medical record solution called TouchWorks, developed by Allscripts Healthcare Solutions, that provides all clinics with paperless access to patient records in a centralized database. Patients are guaranteed the same level of care regardless of where it is delivered, allowing the firm to cut costs by reducing paperwork duplication.

Using Concord's eHealth Suite, Sierra Health said it is able to ensure the availability and performance of this business critical application for more than 600 users.

"Running complex applications can be tricky," stated John Meyer, director of information systems architecture at Sierra Health Services. "With such an important application in an enterprise environment, the right management solution is imperative to maintaining optimal performance. Concord's software gives us a view into the actual experience of our end users and helps us manage all components of our IT infrastructure: the application, servers and network links. By ensuring our IT infrastructure delivers peak performance, we deliver strong support for our care providers, and help drive our business forward."

Earlier this year, Concord unveiled its business service management strategy and launched the Business Service Console in support of the initiative. The company said it continues to execute against this core strategy by delivering enhancements to its application performance management (APM) capabilities. Concord's eHealth Suite manages the availability and performance of the business service, from the applications, to the systems to the network.

"Business service management is a component of aligning business strategy with IT infrastructure. Integrating applications, network and system management into one solution provides IT managers with a tool set for managing the availability and performance of the entire business service," said Frank Kettenstock, vice president of product marketing at Concord Communications, describing the reasoning behind eHealth Suite. "Our new eHealth Suite delivers enhanced application management to ensure high performance and responsiveness of the whole IT infrastructure to drive value for the entire business."
