New versions of TradeSphere modules beef up international shipping, trade compliance functionality

Dulles, VA — October 6, 2004 — Solution provider Vastera has rolled out the latest versions of its global trade management (GTM) offerings, adding improved international shipping and trade compliance functionality intended to allow exporters and importers to reap greater cost and time savings associated with the cross-border movement of goods.

TradeSphere Exporter, the export management module in Vastera's flagship GTM solution, is now in version 7.5, and the provider's TradeSphere Importer, an import management module, has hit version 3.3.

TradeSphere is Vastera's flagship solution designed to automate and facilitate critical global trade functions. The solution is designed to help companies strategically manage the information required to trade globally and improve the efficient exchange of information and goods among extended members of a client's global trade network. Components of TradeSphere include automated shipment documentation, export and import compliance, customs entry filing and restricted party screening.

TradeSphere Exporter 7.5 offers improved export management and compliance capabilities. Support for AESDirect VPN Service gives exporters a secure method of directly filing export declarations.

The new document repository capability in TradeSphere Exporter provides improved management of electronic images of shipping documents. In addition, Exporter 7.5 features improved Canadian export compliance capabilities and improved processes for export declaration generation and encryption report submission.

TradeSphere Importer provides a framework to monitor, manage and audit all phases of the U.S. importing process, according to Vastera. Version 3.3 of the solution provides entry management capabilities to an importer before, during and after the filing process. Importer 3.3 provides new capabilities to provide accurate information to a company's network of brokers through the consolidated rated invoice functionality.

This release also adds functionality to manage reconciliation processing with the customs service. Finally, it provides out-of-the-box integration with TradeSphere Customs Manager U.S. for entry processing control, including automated broker interface (ABI) filing.
