Outdoor power equipment manufacturer to improve customer service and reduce costs through service parts management

Cleveland and Atlanta — October 13, 2004 — MTD Products, Inc., a manufacturer of outdoor power equipment, said this week that it has selected Servigistics Inc., a provider of service parts management solutions, to manage its service parts operations.

Gary Lobaza, senior vice president of Service at MTD, commented that having the right part at the right place and time is critical to his company delivering quality service in the power equipment business. "MTD set out to find a service parts management solution that would enable the company to improve its service parts inventory management, increase the accuracy and efficiency of service parts forecasting, reduce costs and ultimately make certain our dealers and distributors have the right parts when they need them."

Lobaza said MTD selected Servigistics because of its track record with companies around the world that have goals similar to MTD's.

Additionally, he said Servigistic's Planning solution will enhance MTD's already high customer service levels, while optimizing inventory and streamlining operations. Scheduled for completion by year-end, the Servigistics' solution will be deployed on a Linux, Websphere and Oracle database system, and fully integrated to MAPICS enterprise resource planning (ERP).

"MTD has an excellent reputation for delivering innovative products and quality customer service," said Eric Hinkle, CEO of Servigistics. "By recognizing the correlation between parts management and best-in-class customer service, the company continues to demonstrate vision and leadership."

MTD Products Inc. manufactures outdoor power equipment for both residential and commercial markets in the United States, Canada and Europe, and sells products throughout the world.
