Latest release adds new dashboard, decision-support capabilities; integrates B2eMarkets platform

Malvern, PA — October 29, 2004 — Solutions provider Verticalnet this week rolled out an upgrade to Verticalnet XE, its suite of supply management applications, adding a new dashboard, decision-support capabilities and beefed up capabilities for sourcing difficult categories.

Verticalnet said that XE is intended to help companies drive sustainable bottom-line improvements through better management of their supply base. The latest release incorporates Verticalnet's offering with the B2eMarkets platform, acquired when the two providers merged in July.

The latest version of XE provides visibility into spending, contract compliance and performance, along with solutions to identify sourcing opportunities, develop and execute sourcing strategies, and manage contracts and supplier performance, Verticalnet said.

The new Supply Management Dashboard in XE provides sourcing professionals at all levels with visibility into spending, sourcing projects, contracts and supplier performance intelligence, according to the solution provider.

In addition, decision-support capabilities in Verticalnet XE were designed to help supply management executives ensure that negotiated savings actually drop to the bottom line and are recognized by the chief financial offer's office.

Finally, the new version of XE includes expanded capabilities to help clients source the most difficult categories while encouraging broad adoption throughout the organization.

As with previous versions, the upgrade to Verticalnet XE is available via an on-demand model or installed on the customer's hardware. Verticalnet said that its on-demand services can eliminate many of the time consuming tasks associated with e-sourcing, helping to speed implementation, lower cost and drive deeper adoption in Verticalnet customer organizations.

"The Verticalnet XE suite was designed to meet the real-world needs of sourcing professionals," said James Wetekamp, Verticalnet's vice president of product management.

Wetekamp asserted that as supply management continues to become a strategic focus of Global 2000 companies, enterprises are looking for more advanced and integrated solutions to augment their basic e-sourcing applications. At the same time, many e-sourcing applications go unused because of a lack of institutionalized processes, administrative burden on buyers and suppliers, and a lack of compliance with contracts negotiated through e-sourcing.

Wetekamp concluded that XE addresses this challenge by offering a set of solutions that can be easily deployed yet that were powerful enough to meet the increasingly advanced needs of Verticalnet's customers."

The upgrade to Verticalnet XE currently is generally available.
