One of Spain's largest logistics companies selects i2 solutions to manage global expansion plans
Dallas and Barcelona, SPAIN November 12, 2004 Globalization creates unique challenges from a transportation and logistics perspective in terms of efficiently managing cross-border, multi-modal freight movements. Tradisa, one of Spain's leading logistics companies, reported that it is successfully using transportation and network modeling solutions from i2 Technologies Inc., a provider of closed-loop supply chain management solutions. Tradisa claimed that the use of these solutions has enabled global business expansion opportunities for the company.
Tradisa provides logistics services throughout Western Europe to leading automotive manufacturers and delivers spare parts and supplies to electronic and industrial factories. The company is working to build upon its strong presence in regions such as Portugal, France, Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom and expand into countries such as Czech Republic, Poland and Hungary.
Tradisa turned to i2 with goals such as remaining competitive, increasing customer confidence and bringing efficiencies to freight movements while growing the business. Leveraging i2's shipment planning, execution and network modeling capabilities, Tradisa said it has consolidated its planning operations and created visibility across its entire supply chain.
"Before using i2 solutions, we had 15 different planning centers in different geographical regions. i2 has enabled us to centralize those locations and use just one planning center to gain a unified view of business operations across the supply chain for better coordination and management," said Josep Puig, general manager, Tradisa. "i2 provides us with a real-time and Internet-enabled transportation management environment to create proximity to our clients, even if business is conducted on the other side of Europe."
Tradisa reported that by using i2 solutions it can better manage new business and has been able to increase productivity. Tradisa is able to react quickly to unexpected transportation disruptions across the global supply chain, proactively monitoring goods in real time. Additionally, Tradisa can utilize i2 solutions to build network models and perform "what-if" scenario analyses to identify strategic activities with the highest payoff for its customers.
Omer Bakkalbasi, director, i2, said, "i2 and Tradisa share a similar passion for customer service, and it is rewarding to see this solution enabling Tradisa to better serve its customers."
i2 said its solutions for transportation and distribution are designed to enable companies to procure, plan, execute and monitor freight movements across multiple modes, borders and enterprises.
