U.K. cable TV operator sought sourcing platform to help transform procurement activities

Cambridge, MA — December 2, 2003 — U.K cable television operator Telewest Communications has selected Frictionless Sourcing software to support its enterprise sourcing strategy and help the company transform its sourcing activities.

The second largest cable television operator in the United Kingdom, Telewest currently services 4.9 million homes and provides television, telephone and Internet services to 1.72 million U.K. households, as well as voice and data telecommunications services to approximately 70,000 business customers.

Telewest will be using Frictionless Sourcing's platform to drive savings through sourcing events such as request for quote/proposal (RFx) and auctions. In addition, the company plans to tie project and contract management into the sourcing process to help ensure that negotiated savings are fully realized.

"The Frictionless Sourcing platform has proved to be our clear choice after completion of an extensive selection process," said Nick Jones, director of group purchasing and logistics at Telewest. "Initially, Telewest may have settled for a point solution to meet present requirements, but Frictionless Sourcing has demonstrated that it is a platform we can grow with, without compromise, and will enable the transformation of our procurement activities."

Telewest is Frictionless Commerce's latest client acquisition in the region, following the solution provider's recent announcements of customer wins with KPMG LLP UK, Prudential plc and United Utilities.
