Oakbrook Terrance, IL — December 12, 2003 — Perry Ellis International Inc., an apparel marketer, licensor and distributor, said it has completed an ocean bid and carrier selection process utilizing NTE Bid. The solution is online logistics provider NTE's transportation e-procurement solution that automates the request for quote (RFQ) process for transportation bidding and secures optimal carrier contracts.

Additionally, Perry Ellis said it broadened its use of NTE services by implementing NTE's web-native NTE Rapid Rater, which provides a real-time quoting and rate visibility tool.

Marvin Leto, vice president of logistics for Perry Ellis, said the provider's services were very appropriate for Perry Ellis. "NTE understands all modes of transportation and used that experience to create a very effective NTE Bid engagement for us. In addition, NTE Rapid Rater provides us with an efficient and accurate way to distribute our contracted rate and carrier information once we complete a bid."

NET said its RFQ software automates the process of identifying all appropriate information and variables required to conduct an effective and efficient bid process that ensures confidentiality, consistency and fairness for all participants.

Jim Davidson, NTE's president and CEO, said, "The opportunity to use information strategically to make improved supply chain decisions, coupled with the ability to reduce costs and realize an immediate return on investment, is a powerful combination to gain a competitive edge."
